Nantwich Town return to league action this weekend as they are all set to host Lancaster City in the BetVictor Premier Division. After an emphatic 3-0 victory over AFC Telford United saw the Dabbers qualify for the FA Cup Third Round Qualifying stage, Dave Cooke’s side will look to build upon their solid form in the league format.

The Dabbers’ victory over Telford was their second win in a row, following on from their superb turnaround victory over Scarborough Athletic a fortnight ago, where goals from Josh Langley, Joe Malkin and Caspar Hughes ensured Nantwich came away with all three points.

Visitors Lancaster, however, were dumped out of the FA Cup after a 5-0 thrashing to National League North outfit Spennymoor Town last weekend, but their eleven-point haul from their seven outings this season means they will be a difficult side to test up against.

The last two meetings at the Weaver between the two sides have been fairly comfortable for Nantwich, with a 3-0 victory in 2017-18 and a 5-2 thumping in early 2018-19, but changes and recruitment for both sides will mean a difficult encounter for either side.

Nantwich have lost just once from their four home league games this year, with victories over Gainsborough Trinity (2-1), Witton Albion (3-0) and Scarborough Athletic (3-2), while Lancaster’s away record has seen them win all three points on the road just once this year; a David Norris-inspired 4-2 win over Gainsborough, where Norris grabbed a hat-trick.

The last meeting between the two sides came at the tail-end of 2018-19, where a 2-0 win for Dave Cooke’s men secured a play-off spot for the travelling side at Giant Axe.
