Under the glow of the Friday night lights on 13th December, Nantwich Town Disability Football (NTDF) teams concluded their 2024 league matches with determination, skill, and a spirit that transcends the game itself. Competing in the ‘Ability Counts – West Division’ at Northwich’s Moss Farm Lane Sports Complex, the NTDF pan-disability and visually impaired squads showcased the very best of inclusive football.
The NTDF program, part of Nantwich Town FC’s commitment to inclusivity, features three pan-disability teams and a visually impaired team, aptly named Nantwich Town Wolves. This season, the teams impressed on and off the pitch, demonstrating that football has the power to inspire and unite regardless of physical, sensory, or learning challenges.
Craig Acton, Head Coach of NTDF, reflected on the journey so far, saying:
“This season has been an incredible showcase of what determination, teamwork, and community support can achieve. Our players prove every day that football truly is for everyone. As we look ahead to 2025, we aim to inspire even more people to join us in celebrating the beautiful game.”
The NTDF teams train weekly on the state-of-the-art 3G pitch at the Swansway Stadium in Nantwich, where players hone their skills with the support of top-tier coaching. These training sessions, which are free and open to anyone with a disability, are more than just football drills – they are a testament to the unyielding drive and resilience of the players.
The league matches, held monthly at Moss Farm Lane Sports Complex, provide the squads an opportunity to showcase their growth and abilities. This year, they not only recorded promising results but also earned the admiration of spectators and fellow competitors for their skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie.

Beyond the pitch, the NTDF players are champions of disability awareness, volunteering in the community to advocate for greater inclusivity in sports. Their efforts have set a benchmark for other clubs, highlighting how football can be a vehicle for empowerment and unity.
Looking to 2025, with league matches scheduled for 7th February, 7th March, 11th April, and 9th May, the NTDF teams are ready to build on their success. The program, now supporting over 50 players, is committed to growing its reach and encouraging more people with disabilities to take up football.
If you’re inspired to get involved, NTDF’s free pan-disability training sessions are held every Friday from 7pm to 8pm at the Swansway Stadium on Water Lode in Nantwich CW5 5BS. Whether you’re a prospective player or a supporter, there’s a place for everyone in this remarkable community.
