Nantwich Town Ladies FC continued their winning run and finished their season on a high in the Premier Division of the Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League with a 3-0 victory against Stockport County on Sunday 16th April 2023 on Nantwich Town FC’s Swansway Stadium grass pitch.
The Nantwich goals were scored by Meg Rowley and a brace from Kelsey Robbins, which secured third place in the League on their final match of the season.
Player of the match was Kelsey Robbins following her fantastic performance in midfield and finding the net twice.

The Dabbers concluded their season with a third-place finish in the table, behind Ellesmere Port and Macclesfield, with twenty-eight points after nine wins, one draw and six losses, full table here.
Dan Mellor, Manager, Nantwich Town Ladies FC, speaking after the match, said: “Where to start after that? Stockport have built a very strong squad this year and Rhys (Stockport Manager) has transformed them into a very solid unit, we knew heading into the game that it was going to be tough having already lost to them earlier in the season.
“The message to the players before the game was simple, we win the game and we finish the season in the top 3 and wow did they deliver. It’s safe to say they saved the best until last, from minute 1 we looked like we wanted it, every 50/50, every tackle and every moment we looked on it!
“We were clinical in our attacking play, made the right decisions in midfield and the defence were outstanding – it was one of those games where every player was a 9-10/10.
“It was an absolute pleasure to watch the game and to know that the hard work that’s gone into this season be rewarded with a high place finish that the team deserves, in front of so many Dabbers fans cheering us on was just very very special.
“At the start of the season the expectations were very much that we would be somewhere near the bottom of the table and to not be relegated would be seen to have been a great season as we rebuilt the squad so I could not be more proud of them all, 3rd place is quite the achievement, they are an absolute credit to this football club and we now go into the Summer full of optimism for next season.”
