Nantwich Town Women are delighted to announce the signing of Anna Shimizu, who joins the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
A technically gifted midfielder, Anna arrives at the Swansway Stadium after spending last season with Cheadle Town Stingers in Tier 4, while also featuring against the Dabbers during a loan spell at Manchester Laces.
It was in the final league fixture of the 2025/26 season that Anna first caught the eye of manager Dan Mellor. She made a lasting impression, prompting the club to make her a target once the summer recruitment process began.
Following a series of open training sessions, Anna has now committed her future to Nantwich Town Women, adding further quality and competition to the midfield ahead of the new campaign.
Manager Dan Mellor said of Anna’s signing:
“I’m pleased to welcome Anna to the club. She really stood out when she played against us last season. She has a great engine, is very good technically and can carry the ball really well, so as soon as the summer started, she was one we wanted to bring in and take a closer look at through our open sessions. Anna had several options much closer to home, so the fact she chose to sign with us yet again demonstrates the environment we have at Nantwich. Anna said herself she wants to test herself and feels like we’re the place she can do that.”
Supporters have already had a glimpse of Anna for the team, after she featured in the Dabbers’ last two pre-season fixtures in the Leek Charity Shield, helping the side win the tournament. Sunday’s home fixture against Warrington Town will provide the opportunity for her to make her Swansway Stadium debut, with kick-off at 2:00pm.
