Dabbers women are victorious in first home match of 2024
Nantwich Town FC Women beat Stockport County FC Ladies Development 3 – 0 in the Premier Division of the Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League at the Swansway Stadium on Sunday 4th February 2024. It was the Dabbers women’s first home game of 2024.
The Dabbers goal scorers were new signing Hattie Bourne (below), Abbie Heywood and Poppy Smith.
Nantwich Town FC Women starting XI: 1. K. Townsend, 2. H. Knight, 3. N. Walker, 4. F. Chaffey-Green, 5. H. Bourne, 6. K. Green, 7. M. Rowley, 8. M. O’Connor, 9. G. Duckworth, 10. A. Heywood (captain), 11. J. Buckley-Ratcliff. Substitutes: 12. L. Bulkeley, 14. D. Reeder, 15. R. Davies, 16. E. Macdonald, 17. P. Smith.
The win means the Dabbers remain in the top-half of the League table, in fourth place, with 16 points after 4 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses.
Manager Dan Mellor said: “I think this result shows how far we’ve come since the start of the season as a group. We struggled in the reverse fixture and got a beating but today I felt there was only one team going to win, we were solid defensively, played through the lines well and caused them problems. 3 very well taken goals and a clean sheet in front of our home fans, perfect day.”
