The waiting is over, as the Pitching In Northern Premier League finally gets underway with Nantwich opening up against Stalybridge Celtic.
It’s been an interesting summer for the Dabbers, as some experienced players have moved on and been replaced by some intriguing signings. Greg Hall, Mike Koral and Scott McGowan head up the outgoings, with the exciting ‘Thommy’ Montefiori, keeper Camerron Terry and former Football League regular Shaun Miller coming in.
A solid pre-season was capped off with a fine 3-2 victory over National League North side Chester to set up the league campaign brilliantly.
As for Stalybridge (who were 12th in the league at the time of the 19/20 curtailment, the last representative campaign), goalkeeper Phil Jackson was amongst the transfers out; Ethan Padden from Buxton and former England youth international Ashley Smith-Brown from Farsley Celtic are the eye-catching arrivals.
Stalybridge’s last three pre-season games saw narrow losses to Tranmere Rovers and Curzon Ashton followed by a comfortable win over Mossley.
Last Time Out
The Dabbers are unbeaten in their last 4 league meetings with Celtic, with the last defeat coming in 2018.
Last time we met, the Dabbers came out on top with a 3-0 win, with goals from Joel Stair, Connor Heath, and Prince Haywood, all of whom will be hoping to be involved again on Saturday. You can see highlights from that game below:
