The Dabbers start February with another tough home game, this time against Chasetown on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
Chase the Sun
Despite this being a game between the teams currently 6th and 5th in the NPL West, neither side can claim to have made a good start to 2025. Between them they won just 2 out of 11 league games in January. Chasetown’s only wins have been against Brocton in the Walsall Senior Cup and a 3-0 league win against bottom-of-the-table City of Liverpool last weekend, but any win after a few without one is a boost to the confidence.
The two side’s records in the league are remarkably similar, both on 45 points after 13 wins and 6 draws. Chasetown have a 2 better goal difference and also have a game in hand on the Dabbers, putting even more of an onus on Nantwich to try and win this game and remove the power of those advantages. Chasetown have been even better than Nantwich at home but worse than the Dabbers away which has left the two teams in these closely matched positions.
Last Time We Met
The Dabbers should be going into this with the feeling of wanting to settle a score. The reverse meeting in October was a chastening evening in Chasetown for Nantwich, as a second half blitz by the hosts saw them come away with a 4-0 win after what had been a very even first half. Highlights below.
Players to Watch
The Scholars’ top scorer is George Cater on 11 goals, he was on the scoresheet last weekend along with Jack Langston who is now up to 9.
Former Dabber Danny Glover is still banging them in and has 8 this campaign. And Chasetown’s 3 goalscorers in October, Oli Hayward, Mitchell Clarke and Joe Thompson, have all scored again since.
