Dabbers host successful Academy tournament

The Swansway Stadium was the location for a special event on Wednesday 29th January as part of our upcoming Nantwich Town Academy programme in association with Brine Leas. Over 100 prospective students and their families were in attendance as anticipation builds towards the start of the pr0gramme in September this year.

Lyndon Wain, Football Development Manager, said:

“We held a recruitment tournament event on Wednesday with over 100 potential Nantwich Town/Brine Leas BTEC students playing their part in a high quality tournament for male and female footballers. All games were played on the prestigious FIFA grade stadium pitch; this will be the home for our academy in September. Rod McDonald, our coaching lead, was in attendance and is already planning his playing squad. Recruitment has been exceptional so far so we would urge anyone interested to click the following link to register their interest.”

Ben Elliot, Head of PE at Brine Leas school, said:

“It was great to see such a brilliant turnout from local boys and girls teams, the standard of football was excellent and played in great spirit. As always the organisation and facilities at the football club were fantastic! It’s an exciting time for the Football Academy as we continue to develop in preparation for September, with more events still planned: WATCH THIS SPACE!”

 

Rod McDonald, Notts County player and Nantwich Town academy lead, said:

“It was amazing to see how many boys and girls turned out for the tournament and a really good standard to watch with the facilities and staff at the club everything ran smoothly. It’s just a snippet of the standard we will run the academy at to develop players and most importantly better people and students.”
