The Dabbers are back at home on Saturday (3pm kick-off) as we welcome Buxton to the Optimum Pay Stadium.
The Bux of Dabbers Fate
Buxton are unbeaten in 3 after a bit of a rocky spell over Christmas and New Year where they didn’t win in 6. They played out an exciting 2-2 draw with fellow automatic promotion chasers South Shields just last weekend, before beating Basford in midweek.
They are still 3rd in the Northern Premier League, 4 points off leaders Matlock but they have played more games. It’s a tight and thrilling race for promotion as they are only 4 points ahead of 6th place FC United who are just outside the play-offs, so a couple of results can swing things dramatically, meaning the stakes are very high for both teams on Saturday.
Last Time Out
Just before Buxton’s big FA Cup day on the BBC in November, the Dabbers visited and came away with a creditable 1-1 draw. Jamie Ward opened the scoring early in the second half, but the Dabbers grew into it and got a deserved equaliser in the 90th minute courtesy of Jamie Morgan on his 100th Nantwich appearance. Highlights from that are available below.
Players to Watch
There’s been a couple of notable additions to Buxton’s ranks since we last played, the first was the loan signing of the captain of York City, defender Sean Newton, who scored the only goal in the 1-0 win over Basford in midweek. The other is former Newcastle and Wigan player Ryan Taylor, still plying his trade at 37 and famously deadly from free kicks.
Tickets for this one are available here, or on the gate.
Supporters are asked to be in the Atherton and Associates Suite at 2.15 to hear Dave Cooke interviewed by The Cat FM before the game, as well as John Dunning conducting the 200 Club draw live.
