A Deeper Look
Off the back of a hugely successful 2018/19 EFL League 2 season, Bury FC are heading to The Weaver Stadium this weekend to begin their pre-season campaign. Last season saw Bury FC remarkably gain promotion back into EFL League 1 despite money trouble behind the scenes. Previous manager, Ryan Lowe, inspired The Shakers to become second in EFL League 2, with his side going unbeaten for 14 games between the end of December till the end of March. Lowe recently left the club to become the manager of Plymouth Argyle FC.
In The Dugout
Only early last week, it was announced that Paul Wilkson would be taking the reigns as the Bury FC manager for their 2019/20 EFL League 1 campaign. The 54 year old has previously had spells at Cardiff City as a coach, Northampton Town as caretaker manager, and Grimsby Town as assistant, as well as a number of other coaching jobs. Bury will be hoping that Wilkinson’s experience in coaching over a number of years will be enough for the to have another successful season of football.
The transfer window so far has proved tough for The Shakers, who are yet to bring in a signing. 9 players have departed on free transfers, most notably attacking midfielder, Jay O’Shea and centre back Tom Aldred to A-League Side, Brisbane Roar FC. With the beginning of the season getting nearer, Bury FC will be looking to bring in players with vital EFL League 1 experience in the coming weeks.
