Nantwich Town FC Women signed off a memorable year in style by staging their annual Christmas Tournament on 12th December at the Swansway Stadium on Waterlode in Nantwich.
With their next competitive fixture not until January, the festive get-together provided the perfect chance for players to relax, enjoy some friendly rivalry and celebrate a hugely successful 2025 together.
Four mixed squads – Louis’ team, Kyle’s team, Dan’s team and Myles’ team – battled it out for seasonal bragging rights, producing plenty of goals, laughs and Christmas cheer. In the end, it was Louis’ team of Ella, Meg, Jo, Katie, Alex and captain Louis who came out on top, winning all of their matches to be crowned tournament champions.
The fun-filled evening rounded off an outstanding calendar year for the Dabbers, who currently sit proudly at the summit of the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South. Nantwich have amassed 32 points from 13 matches, recording ten wins, two draws and just one defeat, while boasting an impressive +39 goal difference.
The Dabbers return to action on Sunday 11th January (2pm) when they play Fleetwood Town Ladies FC in the League Plate trophy at the Swansway Stadium. Their next League fixture is on Sunday 25th January at home to Macclesfield FC Women.
Reflecting on both the festive tournament and the season so far, Nantwich Town FC Women’s Dan Mellor said:
“It’s been a fantastic year for this group and the Christmas Tournament was a great way to finish before the break. The spirit, togetherness and quality within the squad have been brilliant all season, and everyone’s excited to get back out there in January and keep pushing each other forward.”
