Nantwich Town had the pleasure of welcoming the Chair of the FA and Vice President of FIFA, Debbie Hewitt MBE, to officially open the brand new artificial pitch at the Swansway Stadium ahead of Saturday’s win over York City.
Before the presentation, she also visited some of the community football taking place on the Applewood Arena 3G pitch and spoke to members of several teams, from children, women’s and pan-disability sides.

Just before kick-off, Ms Hewitt presented a plaque to Nantwich chairman Jon Gold and other members of the board to mark this special occasion.

After witnessing the Dabbers’ upset over York and giving a passionate speech about the strength of the English non-league system and the FA competitions like the Cup and the Trophy, she then presented Man of the Match Paddy Kay with his award.

We’re incredibly grateful to Debbie Hewitt for attending and being a part of what was a very special day in the recent history of the Dabbers, and certainly the most special day on the now officially-opened pitch.
