The former England number one goalkeeper and now TV broadcaster Rachel Brown-Finnis came to Nantwich and to the Swansway Stadium, as part of a new sponsorship arrangement for the substitute warm up kits with Boughey Distribution for Nantwich Town’s women’s side.
Rachel was there alongside the Managing Director of Boughey Distribution Angela Carus to present the women’s team with new substitute warm up coats, and Team Manager Dan Mellor, the Captain Claire Rathbone as well as the rest of the women’s team were there to collect them.
It was an excellent turn out ahead of the weekly training session for the team, as Rachel whose own career included a lot of distribution in her own right, was on hand to answer questions from the team about her own career, and advice for the team ahead of their upcoming games.
Rachel’s journey to the number one position of England goalkeeper included spells at club level with both Merseyside teams, Liverpool and Everton, as well as playing in the United States of America.
She played a role in the 2012 Olympics as well amassing over 80 caps for England, and being one of the most well known goalkeepers during her playing time.
After she finished playing in 2015, she has made the transition to working in the media very successfully.
Having appeared on programmes on the BBC, BT Sport, as well as working for various newspapers, she has gained a reputation as a very reliable and knowledgeable broadcaster.
She covered the recent successful Women’s European Championships as a pundit and a co-commentator for the BBC.
It was with all of this knowledge and her background that she was able to offer her insight as to where and how the Nantwich women could improve this season, and beyond.
