Following a number of extra injuries to the first team squad, we would like to update supporters on the latest news:
Mason McKay – Following the incident at Boston Town where Mason collapsed during the first half, he has undergone numerous tests and spent time in hospital. After his release he has been informed to participate in no sport until further tests can be confirmed for his return to football. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Liam Fitzpatrick – Fitzy has been unavailable since Vauxhall Motors with an ankle injury he picked up during pre-season. He is set to return to training next week with a view to be back involved in October.
Troy Bourne – The summer signing suffered an injury to his knee at Squires Gate which is linked to an old injury that we had hoped would be just a number of weeks. However, following an attempt to return the other week at Mossley, the injury remains an issue and is now being assessed further to the extent of the injury and timescales.
Cian O’Shea – The young Stockport County goalkeeper has been ruled out for 6 weeks following a thigh strain at 1874 Northwich last Saturday.
Joe Piggott – Pigs suffered an ankle injury in the game versus Congleton Town which we had hoped would be just 7 days rest. However, due to the swelling he is set to miss this weekend’s game and possibly next week.
Joe Davis – The experienced defender is set to return to training in the next week following a groin injury that he first gained in his appearance against Sporting Khalsa.
Bruno Cina – Following a knee injury he gained during training with Stockport County he had a 3-week period of rest and is now available for selection.
Fenton Green – The midfielder did return to the squad midweek following numerous games out with injury but following a bad tackle at Shifnal towards the end of the game he is set to miss out this weekend.
In other player news skipper Harry Davis serves his one match suspension this afternoon and will return next week, Josh Hancock has two more games left of his suspension. And Byron Moore, James Baillie and Iwan Roberts are now back available for selection.
Defender AJ Kandeke will continue his dual registration with West Didsbury & Chorlton where he has helped to get game time. Youngsters Reece Vaughan and Tom Horton are out on dual registration whilst goalkeeper Yusuf Mersin has left to seek regular playing time himself.

“It’s fair to say I’ve never known a start to a season like it with what we’ve faced but it’s part of football, other clubs are in a similar position so although far from ideal we simply continue to assess week to week with the hope over the next month we will be in a strong position having a lot of the above back and available.
Although frustrating, now the excitement to welcome back the strength of the players we have most definitely keeps us looking forward for the long term.”
