Nantwich Town can confirm that Byron Harrison has left the club to join fellow NPL West side Kidsgrove Athletic.
Brought to the club by then manager Ritchie Sutton in October 2022, over the following 3 and a half years he scored 59 goals and got 27 assists in 175 Dabbers appearances.
As managers and players around him changed, Byron remained a constant presence in the Nantwich side, and always a goalscoring threat. His ability to combine with whoever he was up front with, whether it was Dan Cockerline, Callum Saunders, Kai Evans or Alex Panter, was a real standout quality.
He won the Nantwich Player of the Season award in 2024/25, and was the club’s top scorer in 2023/24. Of all the goals he scored, one that immediately springs to mind is the record breaking goal in the FA Cup away at Avro, clocked at 8.8 seconds, the fastest known Nantwich goal ever and potentially the fastest FA Cup goal ever.
But it was his conduct on and off the pitch that stood out perhaps above everything else. Quietly spoken, polite and dignified, he was as popular with younger supporters as he was with older ones and had time for them all. His loyal father-in-law, who could always be seen, stood up, watching Nantwich games from the back of the main stand, will also be missed.
Byron has sent a message to Dabbers supporters, saying:

“Byron is without doubt one of the classiest and most sincere people I have ever met in all my years in doing this, a real class act. His contribution to our club, both on and off the field, has been immense and he has the utmost gratitude and respect of everyone at the club and will always be welcome here.
Luke worked hard to retain Byron and made him a realistic and fair offer within our budget, but unfortunately it didn’t meet within Byron’s expectations and it’s his prerogative to sign for another club and to this end he goes with our very best wishes.”
