Nantwich Town FC Women continued their impressive preparations for the 2026-27 season with a convincing 6-1 victory over Warrington Town Women FC in their first home pre-season friendly at the Swansway Stadium on Sunday 19th July.
Fresh from lifting the Leek Charity Shield earlier in pre-season, the Dabbers produced another dominant display as they continued to build momentum ahead of their first-ever campaign in Tier Five football.
Lacey Martin led the scoring with a brace, while Amanda Fallon, Josie Alderman, Meg Andrews and Alicia Hatton also found the net to complete an emphatic win in front of the home supporters.
The fixture also gave fans their first opportunity to see several of the club’s new signings in action at the Swansway Stadium, with a number of players making their home debuts.
Nantwich earned promotion last season after winning the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South title, following on from their Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League Premier Division championship success the previous year.
The Dabbers started with C. Swindell, M. Andrews, S. Johnson, S. Cawley, K. Naylor, K. Greenwood, C. Mather, L. Woollam, A. Fallon, captain M. Ragdale and L. Martin.
Used from the bench were A. Hatton, A. Shimizu, J. Alderman, A. Poulton, A. Mayer, a trialist and N. Short.
After the match, Nantwich Town FC Women manager Dan Mellor praised both the performance and the progress his squad is making during pre-season.
“It was another really pleasing performance from the girls. Going into the game, our main focus was our work out of possession. We wanted to win the ball back high up the pitch, stop counter attacks before they developed and control the game through our intensity, and I thought the players executed that brilliantly.
“As a result, we were able to dominate large spells of the game and create plenty of chances. Some of the goals we scored were exceptionally well worked and reflected the quality we’ve been building throughout pre-season.
“It was also great to see a number of players make their home debuts. You can already see relationships starting to develop across the pitch, with players understanding each other’s movements and building those partnerships that are so important over the course of a season.
“The result is always nice, but the biggest positive for us is seeing the work we’ve been putting in on the training ground transferring into matches. There are still areas to improve, but we’re heading in the right direction and we’re excited to keep building towards the start of the league campaign.”

Adult season tickets are priced at £50, while concessions and under-16s tickets cost £30. The ticket includes admission to all 11 home league fixtures, as well as the final pre-season friendly against Lichfield City on 9th August.
