Nantwich Town Football Club is calling on football supporters near and far to become part of its growing matchday experience by donating scarves for display in its new fan zone.
The club, based on Water Lode in Nantwich (CW5 5BS), is inviting fans from across the UK and beyond to contribute a football scarf that will be proudly showcased inside the Green Rock Group Fan Zone at the stadium.
In football culture, scarves hold a special place. What began in the early 1900s as simple knitted items to keep supporters warm on chilly terraces have evolved into powerful symbols of loyalty and identity. From the hand-crafted “granny scarves” of decades past to the bold, mass-produced designs of the modern era, they represent the passion and pride of supporters across generations.
Now, the Dabbers want to bring that tradition to life in their new fan space. The scarves will be pinned across the ceiling, creating a colourful and unique display celebrating clubs and communities from around the world.
The Green Rock Group Fan Zone itself has quickly become a focal point for supporters, featuring a fully stocked bar, a live performance area for music, and club merchandise supplied by Bev’s Bunting.
A number of scarves have already been donated, helping to kick-start the initiative. These include contributions from Nathan Tong, who provided a scarf from Blyth Spartans, Dabbers club secretary Carl Thorpe, who donated one from Nottingham Forest, and Andrew Wisley, who contributed a scarf from Barmouth & Dyffryn United.
Fans attending matches can drop off their scarves at the Half Time Draw stand, located just inside the stadium entrance by the turnstiles.
Scarf donation co-ordinator Ian Garnett said:
“We want to create something really special for our supporters and visitors alike. Scarves are such a big part of football culture, and every one tells a story – whether it’s from a local club, a holiday, or a memorable match.
“We’d love fans from Nantwich and beyond to get involved and help us turn the fan zone into a vibrant celebration of the game. Every scarf donated will become part of the club’s story.”
The initiative is being run by Ian Garnett and Christine Edwards, who hope the display will continue to grow throughout the season and beyond, turning the fan zone into a must-see feature for anyone visiting the Swansway Stadium.
