Nantwich Town are pleased to announce that our friendly against Wolves U21s on Friday 12th July will be a match to celebrate Troy Bourne in recognition of his decade of loyal service to the club.
2024 is our Captain Troy Bourne’s tenth year of involvement with the football club. Progressing through the youth teams and under 18’s, he made his first team debut in November 2015 at Cammell Laird in the Cheshire Senior Cup under manager Phil Parkinson. Troy went on to become a stalwart in the Nantwich defence after a loan spell at Alsager Town and has barely looked back since.
There have been many milestones, successes and memorable goals over the years. He has won Nantwich Player of the Season in 2022/23, Young Player of the Season in 2021/22, Player’s Player of the Season in 2017/18 and 2022/23, and Management Team’s Player of the Season in 2017/18 and 2022/23, among other accolades.
He’s now captain and has 275 Dabbers appearances to his name, as well as 15 goals. Two of those goals that immediately spring to mind include the winner against King’s Lynn to take Nantwich to the First Round of the FA Cup for only the third time ever in 2019, and the last gasp strike against Hednesford Town last season to secure an incredible 4-3 win.
Whilst the word “Testimonial” is often used to commemorate a footballer’s long service and journey, as Troy has reached this milestone still in his mid-twenties and with much more still to come, we would prefer to recognise his achievements and loyalty over the years, with an evening of celebration as we welcome Steve Davis and Wolves under 21’s to The Swansway Stadium.
There will be a presentation by the NTISA to recognise this landmark and lots more, so we do hope that you can join Troy and his family on the evening to help us celebrate and to show our appreciation for his ten years of achievements, success and loyalty.
