The Swansway Stadium will once again be hosting esteemed musical guests in May, following the success of the concerts last October for the Nantwich Words and Music festival.
As part of the Nantwich Roots Festival, an offshoot of the Words and Music event, the first gig will be on Monday 13th May as Merry Hell and Nigel Stonier open the entire event.
Wigan-based folk rock band Merry Hell’s latest album reached the top 5 in the folk charts and have won awards for their live shows.
Nigel Stonier is a Nantwich resident and is a successful artist and producer on several top 40 singles that have also been featured in international TV ad campaigns.
He has a new album out later this year and will be previewing some of the material from it on the night.

Then, on Wednesday 15th May from 7.30pm, an evening of original music and spoken word poetry from local artists.

Finally, on Thursday 16th May from 7.30pm, Ian McNabb and Chris Layhe from 1980s band The Icicle Works will be performing acoustic versions of some of their hits from that era, which included top 20 single Love Is A Wonderful Colour and Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream), which has over 11 million streams on Spotify.
Ian was also nominated for the Mercury Music Prize for a solo album in 1994, and has performed with Ringo Starr.
