The Dabbers are looking to return to winning ways after a disappointing – but indeed entertaining –  loss to Widnes FC in the Integro League Cup. This weekend they travel to Hurst Cross to take on Ashton United.

The Robins are coming into the game on the back of two losses, however they have won their last two league games, they come up against an in-form Nantwich side who have lost just one time in the league since early September. A victory for Dave Cooke’s men could see them rise from 7th to 5th in the league. Whereas victory for Ashton would see them stay 17th in the table, with four games in hand over Scarborough Athletic, who sit in 16th.

Our Last Meeting

The two sides last met back in April 2018 in a game which the Robins came out victors, with a tight 2-1 victory over Nantwich. Goals for Ashton came from Liam Tomsett and Sam Sheridan. Nantwich’s goal came from a Tomsett own-goal after a defensive error. The game would prove an important victory for Ashton as they pushed for what would result in a successful promotion.

Last Time Out

Nantwich Town 5-6 Widnes FC
Integro League Cup
Tuesday 19th November 2019

A young Nantwich side bowed out to Widnes FC in the Integro League Cup on Tuesday night in an 11 goal thriller. A screamer from Widnes captain, Mike Burke settled the two teams differences late into stoppage time. The Dabbers were 0-3 down after 30 minutes, but somehow managed to turn this around to be leading 4-3 by half time. Nantwich were then leading 5-3 early in the second half, before Widnes pulled off an impressive come back to grab a victory. Two debut goals from Callum Saunders on his return to Nantwich will no doubt excite Dabbers fans coming into this weekends fixture.
