Nantwich Town are delighted to announce that the hugely successful Nantwich Women’s team will be fully prepared and equipped to compete in tier 5 under the stewardship of Dan Mellor.
Only formed in 2020, the side have progressed at an exponential rate, especially in the last couple of years. In 2025, they won their first ever league title, and this season have backed this up with another stunning title triumph, winning a league that included formidable, experienced and longstanding teams teams like Altrincham, Chester and Macclesfield. This saw them become the first senior team in the 142 year history of Nantwich Town to win consecutive league titles.
They have also reached the First Round Proper of the Women’s FA Cup for the first time and were one round away from repeating the feat this season.
Next season they will be playing at Step 5 of the women’s pyramid in the North West Women’s Regional League Premier and will face teams such as Bury, Bolton Wanderers and Tranmere Rovers, as well as local rivals Crewe Alex.
The additional support from the club will include more coaching hours, enhanced back room staff and funds set aside to support investment in the additional travel cost for players.
The Dabbers are also pleased to confirm that double title winning manager Dan Mellor and his highly regarded Assistant Louis Stallman will be also remaining at the club to oversee this big next step in the team’s history.

You can see the Dabbers Women receive their latest league trophy in a friendly at the Swansway Stadium against Rochdale on Sunday 26th April at 4.30pm.

Nantwich Women’s manager Dan Mellor said:
“The league position we were in at Christmas meant that promotion was a realistic possibility, so we really started our planning process then and we now have full alignment across the club’s board that we can attack Tier 5 positively. With some of the budgets we are up against and clubs with FA funding support it is unrealistic to think that we can achieve promotion again next year, but at the same time we are all ambitious for Nantwich and the discussions and assessment of other clubs locally have shown us that we can really press on and that Tier 3 is a realistic target for a well-run club with great facilities, a vibrant environment and strong Female section.
Our average home crowds are bigger than many clubs operating in tier 5, 4 and 3 including teams with Men’s teams in the Championship! We will now lock in the current squad who have performed so admirably this season and who are all looking forward to the step up, our pathway continues to produce some excellent young footballers who are already bringing additional energy and skill to our training sessions and we will give these outstanding youngsters the opportunity to step up. We will also look to strengthen from the outside in a few key areas and welcome players to our first May trials on May 13th + 20th.”
