Nantwich Town Football Club are pleased to announce that Gordon McKinnon has joined the clubs Board as Facilities Director. Working with the Board and our valued volunteers, his role is to oversee all club facilities from the Optimum Pay stadium itself, the main pitch and also the Applewood Independent 3G pitch which hosts youth and community football seven days per week.

A little about Gordon…

Gordon retired last year following a 43 year career in business. After obtaining a degree in Economics from Cardiff University, he spent 23 years in various management roles in Marks & Spencer, which included spells opening stores  in Hong Kong and Singapore, before taking up an assignment working with Manchester City Council for 5 years on the rebuilding  of Manchester City Centre following the IRA bomb in 1998.

He then moved  across Manchester to manage The Trafford Centre for 8 years; and when that was purchased by intu Properties, Gordon took up a role as Operations Director with intu based in London, taking on  responsibility for running 17 of the largest shopping centres in the country, until his retirement in 2020.

Gordon is married to Diane, and they have lived in Nantwich for 27 years,  raising their three children here. His passion is football and he has followed the local club wherever he has lived over the years- including Sutton United, Chelsea, Cardiff City, Man Utd, Aston Villa, Colchester Utd, Linfield, Northampton Town, Crewe Alex and of course Nantwich Town!

He is delighted to now be part of the club, and is looking forward to using his experience to help the club in any way he can.

NTFC Chairman Jon Gold comments “I have known Gordon in both a personal and professional capacity for many years and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us, as his vast experience and skills will be an invaluable and much needed asset to the club, in helping to both maintain and develop our wonderful facilities and taking the club forward strongly into the future.”
