Nantwich Town Academy 2025 update

We’ve had a great response to our newly launched Nantwich Town Academy for 2025, in association with Brine Leas and Rod McDonald. We caught up with a couple of the central figures to this programme below, where you can also find out how to be a part of it.

Ben Elliot, Brine Leas

A few weeks in how are you and the school seeing the progress;

The school is delighted with how much interest has been shown in the new football academy partnership. It is an exciting time for the school now as we begin to build the bespoke timetable for students who will be on the course in September.

How’s early recruitment in terms of both quality and quantity so far?

The numbers so far are excellent, better than we expected. Its great to have a mix of both boys and girls wanting to be part of the football academy. It is also great to see students from lots of different schools wanting to continue their education at Brine Leas.

What sets our Academy project apart and above others?

This partnership is a unique opportunity as it is combining one of the best education establishments in the area with the best semi-professional football club. The facilities on offer are second to none at both locations, alongside the amazing teachers and coaches in charge of delivering the course.

What’s our plan’s in early 2025?

January will see us beginning to make contact with those already signed up and offer the student and parents opportunity to visit the football club and get a feel for what their experience will be like on the course.

We are also planning to run a small-sided football festival for local teams which will give us opportunity to showcase the facilities on offer and speak more about the Football Academy.

Rod McDonald, former Crewe Alex player

“Momentum is building tremendously, we are on the right track for a strong squad for September, momentum is building really well from the early recruitment from myself, Nantwich Town and Brine Leas. I would say what sets our academy apart will be the facilities the students/players will have from Nantwich Town coaching from top license coach and top education from Brine Leas which is the most important thing for me.

The next steps for early 2025 will be to set up a tournament at the end of January for local teams and players/students who have applied to come along and get a feel of playing on the stadium pitch and the facilities they will use daily.”

Lyndon Wain, Nantwich Town FDO

“It’s fantastic having partners like Brine Leas school and Rod McDonald on board, recruitment is reflecting the package our academy provides. Our education element, offering the target of three A levels, the professional football expertise of Rod and our UEFA B / A coaches, coupled with the club’s incredible stadium facility where all the Academy’s games will be played make this an easy decision should any potential student want to forge a career in professional football.

Recruitment continues at pace with events on the horizon in January, so watch this space! I’d definitely recommend registering your interest through the form HERE and join us all on our journey. Exciting times ahead.”
