Nantwich Town recorded another win in pre season with a 2-0 victory away at Squires Gate.
This trip to Blackpool was pencilled in partly to simulate some of the longer journeys that do crop up during the season despite the NPL West being nominally a regional league, as well as away cup games, that have been known to trip Dabbers teams up in recent years.
With that in mind, it was a professional performance with a goal in each half to secure the win. The opener came from the penalty spot after Iwan Roberts was chopped down after a good run into the 18-yard box.
The spot kick was converted by a Nantwich trialist, who hit it high down the middle as the goalkeeper dived to his left.
The second goal, just before the mid point of the second half, was spectacular.
A corner from the right by Mason McKay was played in quite close to goal, where Bruno Cina managed to rotate his body and steer in an overhead kick on the full volley from the corner. That was the Stockport loanee’s first Dabbers goal and an exciting glimpse of what he is capable of.
The next game for the Dabbers is at home to Phil Parkinson’s Chester FC on Tuesday 28th July at 7.45pm.
