Dabbers women win convincingly in County Cup
Nantwich Town FC Women hammered Wilmslow Albion Women FC 7 – 0 in the Cheshire FA Women’s County Cup competition at the Swansway Stadium on the afternoon of Sunday 20th October 2024.
The Dabber players each wore a black armband in memory of Amanda Fallon’s mother, who has passed away.
It was a strong performance from the Dabbers, with chances of goals aplenty. There were some great saves from the Wilmslow keeper, keeping the score in single digits. However, she was no match for the scorers: Grace Duckworth (1 goal), Ellie Macdonald (1 goal), and the five goals from Amanda Fallon who is sponsored by the Nantwich Town Independent Supporters Association (NTISA), https://www.nantwichtownfc.co.uk/ntisa/.
Amanda Fallon was named Player of the Match for her glut of goals and overall commanding performance.

Dan Mellor, Manager, Nantwich Town FC Women, speaking after the victory said:
“That’s 5 wins in a row for us now and I must say the girls are in fine form and at times today I thought we were magnificent. Our one touch play caused them issues throughout, especially in the second half and we scored some very well worked goals.
“The most pleasing aspect is the clean sheet as whilst we’ve dominated games, we’ve had a few mistakes creep in which has resulted in us conceding here and there and that didn’t happen today, we asked the girls to be ruthless and I felt they were.
“We were successful in this competition last season by reaching the semi finals and we’re aiming to go further this time around.”

Motherwell Cheshire (https://motherwellcheshirecio.com/) were present at the game with wellbeing bags and period dignity kits, as well as collecting boots and winter coats and doing a bucket shake. The focus of the charity is to encourage, inspire and empower all women and girls to improve their mental health and challenge the associated stigma.
There was also a raffle sponsored by The Tea Lounge at Nantwich Town FC (https://thetealounge.co.uk), and two young Dabbers – Chloe (aged 11) and Oliver (7) – were fundraising for their sponsored litter pick to raise £500 for the team (https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/rebecca-mellor-1).
