Dabbers Dominate Again: Nantwich Town FC Women Thrash Northwich Vixens 7-0

Nantwich Town FC Women delivered a scintillating performance on the evening of Wednesday 26th March 2025, storming past Northwich Vixens LFC with a commanding 7-0 victory at the Swansway Stadium. The win solidifies their place at the top of the Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League Premier Division, extending their lead to seven points.

From the opening whistle, the Dabbers showcased their attacking prowess. It took just 13 minutes for Levi Lander to open the scoring, firing home from inside the box to set the tone for the night. The relentless pressure continued, and on 27 minutes, Lander turned provider, threading a perfect through ball to Amanda Fallon, who coolly slotted past the keeper via the post to make it 2-0.

The Dabbers’ dominance was further emphasised just before the break. A slick move involving Fallon and Meg Ragdale led to a stunning left-footed strike from Ragdale, nestling in the top corner to send Nantwich into halftime with a comfortable 3-0 advantage.

The second half began in similar fashion, with Fallon bagging her second of the evening just two minutes after the restart. Her precise effort from the edge of the area left the Vixens’ goalkeeper with no chance, making it 4-0.

On 75 minutes, Fallon completed her hat trick – her second in as many games – pouncing on a wayward pass from the Vixens’ keeper to fire home Nantwich’s fifth. Five minutes later, Ragdale grabbed her second of the night when her cross was mishandled and bundled into the net by the opposition’s shot-stopper.

The final flourish came in stoppage time as substitute Libby Bulkeley put the icing on the cake with a well-deserved goal, capping off a brilliant individual and team performance. As the final whistle blew, Nantwich secured yet another three points with an emphatic 7-0 scoreline.

Nantwich Town Women’s manager Dan Mellor was full of praise for his side’s performance:

“It was a great game of football and you could forgive the girls a bit for letting the pressure seep in but they didn’t allow it to. From minute 1 we were straight on the front foot, the first half entirely played in their half of the pitch and our work in training at breaking low blocks really paid off.

“I’ve said it so many times but we create chances at will, we have such a strong team that we can go from back to front in so many different ways and you saw that tonight in the variety of goals we scored. The third goal by Megan was just outstanding team play built right from the back and there must have been 20+ passes in the build up and then a wonderful effort into the top corner.”

Looking ahead, Mellor urged his squad to remain focused as they push for the title.

“We’ve put ourselves in a really strong position now with a 7 point gap at the top but we’ve won nothing yet so we’ll stay focussed on the job at hand and next weekend (6th April) we’ll go to Newton with the same mentality we approach every game which is to dominate and win.”
