Nantwich Town FC Women capped their final game of 2025 with a confident 2–0 victory over Macclesfield FC Women at the Leasing.com Stadium on Sunday afternoon (7th December), reinforcing their position at the top of the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South.
The Dabbers arrived eager to respond after suffering their first league defeat of the season last time out — and they did exactly that. With Jo Case and Josie Alderman returning to the starting XI and Beth Grice making her second start, Nantwich quickly found their rhythm, dominating the opening 45 minutes. Despite their control, the score remained level at the interval.
The breakthrough finally came in the second half. Josie Alderman — sponsored by Dame Pat Bacon — fired Nantwich ahead, before top scorer Amanda Fallon, backed by the NTISA, doubled the lead to secure the three points and chalk up the team’s tenth league win of the campaign.
Midfielder Meg Baldwin was named GOAT Player of the Match for a commanding display in the centre of the park, controlling possession and breaking up Macclesfield attacks. She was rewarded with a £50 voucher from GOAT, Nantwich’s newest High Street bar.
Manager Dan Mellor praised his squad’s reaction after the recent setback, saying:
“That was exactly the response we wanted. We dominated from start to finish and controlled the game in all the areas where we fell short last week.
“A 2–0 win away at Macclesfield is never easy, so the players deserve a lot of credit for the discipline and intensity they showed.
“Finishing 2025 at the top of the table is satisfying, of course, but we’re under no illusions there’s still a lot of work ahead if we want to be there when it really matters at the finish line.
“Thank you as always to our travelling support, this isn’t possible with you.”
The result keeps Nantwich Town FC Women firmly at the summit with 32 points from 13 matches — ten wins, two draws, one defeat, and an impressive +39 goal difference.
The Dabbers now begin a run of three consecutive home games at the Swansway Stadium, starting with fixtures against Warrington Town Women and Macclesfield FC Women. The scheduled home game against Manchester Laces for this Sunday (14th) has been rearranged to February.
