The Dabbers are back home for the first time since the Chester victory, hosting Witton Albion in the second of a double header 7 days apart, in the Second Round of the Cheshire Cup at the Swansway Stadium on Tuesday 5th.

Witton’s recent form can best be described as inconsistent. In their last 12 games they have won 4 and lost 8, they haven’t had a draw since the start of September. And some of the results have happened in the reverse to what you might expect. For example, at the start of November they followed up a 3-1 away win at Kidsgrove with a 4-0 home loss to Trafford. Their 40 goals conceded is the second most in the division.
After the 4-1 defeat to the Dabbers, Witton were part of just 2 NPL West games that took place on a weather-affected weekend. They came from behind twice against Chasetown but it wasn’t enough to stop a 3-2 defeat. They are now 16th in the league.

Witton’s top scorer is Connor Hughes with 7 goals in 16 appearances. He scored the consolation for them away at Leek 2 games ago, and the winner at Newcastle the game before.
There’s also a fair few former Dabbers in there, Mike Koral, James Lawrie, Jack Sherratt and Joe Mwasile among them.
Matthew Lowton followed his first Witton goal against Nantwich with another at the weekend. He was playing Premier League football for Burnley as recently as 2022, and has made a few appearances for Witton since his shock signing at the start of November.
