Nantwich Town to action this weekend as they make the long trip to the North-East to take on league high-flyers Whitby Town. Without a league battle since their Non-League Day defeat to Radcliffe in mid-October, the Dabbers’ cup priorities have taken centre-stage but a return to the bread-and-butter of league competition awaits with a mammoth 324-mile-round-trip to North Riding.

Our Last Meeting

Whitby Town 0-1 Nantwich Town
Northern Premier Division
Saturday 1st December 2018

Joe Malkin’s first ever goal for the club ensured Nantwich Town moved to the top of the Northern Premier League. Malkin headed home Matt Bell’s whipped corner in what would be the only scoring of the afternoon. James Lawrie had had a chance to put the Dabbers in front from the penalty spot earlier in the game, but his feebly-struck effort was saved easily by the Seasiders’ shot-stopper. While the game went down to the wire, the quality on show was lacking as the dreadful winter conditions really marred the fixture’s quality.

Last Time Out

Nantwich Town 2-1 Bamber Bridge
Buildbase FA Trophy First Round Qualifying
Tuesday 29th October 2019

Two goals from two defenders ensured the Dabbers’ qualification into the Second Round Qualifying of the Buildbase FA Trophy for the first time since Dave Cooke’s return to the Weaver Stadium. While Nantwich suffered an early deficit thanks to Gary Pett’s superb strike for the visitors, Joel Stair’s first goal since May 2018 put the Dabbers back onto level footing. Just a few minutes before the half-hour mark, Troy Bourne netted for the second ever time in a green shirt to send Dave Cooke’s men into the hat for the next qualifying round of the FA Trophy.

Key Man – Matty Tymon

Matty is now in his third spell with the Blues after a loan period in 2009 from Victoria Park and two spells at Workington and West Auckland, Tommy Cassidy signed him after a debut goal in pre-season 2011 and Chris Hardy moved for the frontman in June 2016 to end another bright spell in Cumbria. A tall, pacey, skilful striker capable of turning a game. Tymon had an impressive opening season, scoring 17 goals on his return to the club.
