A Christmas cracker of a local derby should be in store on Boxing Day, as the Dabbers travel to Stafford Rangers (3pm kick-off).
Feliz Stafford-ad
In the league, Stafford have lost 3 of their last 4 matches, to Stalybridge, South Shields and Atherton, but the solitary win in that run was over FC United.
Before a 1-0 win over Lichfield City in the Staffordshire Senior Cup last midweek, they had only won 2 of their previous 10 matches in all competitions. Having said all this, they are still just 4 points off the play-offs in 11th in the Northern Premier League, down to a strong league start that means a couple of wins can get them right up amongst it again.
Last Time Out
The running of this fixture this time last year was a thriller, the Dabbers coming from behind to draw 2-2 in stoppage time. Highlights below.
Players to Watch
Anyone who’s watched recent Nantwich/Stafford meetings will be familiar with Tom Tonks’ torpedo-like long throw-ins, so they should be on show again on Monday.
Stafford recently added to their ranks with the signings last week of Akeem Hinds from Matlock and former Dabber Callum Saunders from Ashton, both could be in line to make their debuts on Boxing Day.
Tonks and Saunders, if you count his Ashton goals, are joint top scorers on 6, closely followed by another former Dabber Kaiman Anderson on 5. Another to look for is former Crewe man Alex Kiwomya who has been scoring in recent games.
