After Saturday’s opening day draw at Lancaster City, The Dabbers are back at home on Tuesday as we host Warrington Rylands at The Swansway Stadium.
SEASON SO FAR:
Connor Heath was the hero on Saturday as he rescued a point for The Dabbers with his second half strike. Joe Robbins was sent off in the second half after he hauled down David Norris as he went through on goal. The Dabbers would have been pleased to come away with a point considering they played an hour with ten men in the blistering heat. THE OPPOSITION
The Dabbers have never faced off against Rylands so both sides will be looking to kick off the rivalry with a positive result. Warrington Rylands are the newcomers into the league after they were promoted following their success in the Northern Premier League West Division last season. They began their campaign with a 3-0 home defeat against Gainsborough Trinity. Trinity opened the scoring after just 10 seconds to have Rylands the worst possible start to their campaign. Rylands have a few familiar faces amongst their side. David Webb signed for Rylands from the Dabbers last season and he was pivotal in their incredible campaign last season. Former Dabbers defender Josh Langley also plays for Rylands after he signed in the summer. Former Dabbers forward Ryan Brooke also lines up for the Warrington side. Sam Tickle also plays for Rylands, he spent a brief period of last season on-loan at The Dabbers. After one game, Warrington Rylands sit at the bottom of the league. However, this is down to their goal difference and also alphabetical order.
ONE TO WATCH – KANE DRUMMOND
Drummond won NPL West Player of the Year at the end of season awards in the summer. He bagged 19 goals for Rylands in their league winning 2021/22 campaign. Drummond also made history as he was the clubs first ever contracted player when he signed a contract in January 2020. Drummond is quick and he has an eye for goal so he will certainly be one to keep an eye out for.
