The last game of a long month for the Dabbers sees us host Wythenshawe Town on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
Are You Wyth Me?
For the second season in a row last season, a team was reprieved from relegation from the NPL West at the end of last campaign due to another team in the pyramid having issues. The team saved this time was Wythenshawe Town.
Recent form has been a struggle for them. Their goalless draw with Darlaston last weekend ended a run of 4 straight defeats. Those had come to Congleton, Clitheroe, Runcorn and Stalybridge. If you take it further back it is only 1 win in their last 11 games.
All of this has left them second bottom of the NPL West on 14 points. They are 4 points from safety at the moment and have played a game or two more than the teams immediately above them. They are the joint second lowest scorers with 17 and have conceded the most in the division with 42. But on current form over the last 6 games, there is almost nothing to choose between Wythenshawe and the Dabbers, Nantwich only with a marginally better goal difference.
However, like the Dabbers the county cup brought some relief for them in midweek as they beat Glossop 5-3 in the Manchester Premier Cup, that saw them come from 3-1 down at half time.
Last Time We Met
In March goals from Ben Hockenhull and Byron Harrison helped the Dabbers to a 2-1 win in Wythenshawe. The Wythenshawe goal, a great strike, was scored by future Dabbers midfielder Fenton Green. And Byron’s 94th minute winner would go on to win the NTISA Golden Moment of the Season at the end of season awards. Highlights below.
Players to Watch
The 2 goals that Wythenshawe Town have scored in November have both been scored by Demi Rhami. He has 7 goals for the season and is their top scorer.
Captain Astley Mulholland is back at Wythenshawe Town after previously playing for them in 2023/24. And former Dabber keeper Greg Hall is still between the sticks for them as well.
Striker Wealth Dasilva was on loan at the Dabbers at the end of the 2018/19 season and has also played for Witton and Mossley.
