Nantwich Town’s first game of 2023 is a big one, as we welcome Warrington Town to the Swansway Stadium (3pm kick-off), our first home match since 15th November.
Waiting on a Warr
Warrington Town have 1 win from their last 6 matches in all competitions, however that was a thrilling 3-2 win over league leaders South Shields at the end of November. Their 2 matches since then have been draws with Stalybridge and Marine.
A quirk of fixtures and postponements has meant that their last 5 matches have all been at home, this will be their first game away from Cantilever Park since a 2-1 defeat at Whitby on 8 November. Conversely, it’s the Dabbers’ first home game in 4.
Their clean sheet in the 0-0 with Marine was their first in 9 games, and the slight dip in form means one of the pre-season favourites to get promoted are currently 9th but just 2 points off the play-offs and a not insurmountable 8 points off Shields at the top.

It was all about Isaac Buckley-Ricketts at the end of August, his double either side of Dan Cockerline’s first goal of the season helping Wire to a 2-1 win. Highlights below.
Players to Watch
Stefan Mols is Warrington’s top scorer on 5, and is their penalty taker. They were hit by the departure of striker Connor Woods after he was recalled from his loan by parent club Southport and have only scored once in their 2 games since. But with Buckley-Ricketts, Jordan Buckley and Bohan Dixon still in their squad, they will back themselves to get firing again.
