The Dabbers open their 2022/23 Northern Premier League Premier Division campaign with a trip to Lancaster City tomorrow.
Dave Cooke’s side will be looking to kick off their campaign with a positive start as we look to pick up as many points as possible in what will be a tough first month for The Dabbers.
THE OPPOSITION:
The Dolly Blues have had a busy summer, adding 10 new faces into their playing squad. The enjoyed a relatively successful pre-season, winning six of their nine games. Last season, Lancaster were on course for the play offs but a handful of defeats at the backend of the season saw them finish 11th in the league on 56 points. Four more than The Dabbers.
LAST SEASONS MEETINGS:
Lancaster City did the double over Nantwich last season, the first meeting between the two sides was on a cold December evening and The Dolly Blues ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Charlie Bailey & Rhys Turner. The second meeting came towards the back end of the season in March when a Jack Bryne header gave Lancaster all three points at the Giant Axe. The Dabbers will be hoping for revenge tomorrow.
GAFFERS THOUGHTS
Here are the thoughts of Dave Cooke as he looks ahead to tomorrow’s fixture.
“First of all let’s give Lancaster some credit, they were in with a shout of the play offs up until early April and that’s Credit to Mark (Fell) the manager, who is in my opinion one of the best managers in the league. They have a certain style of play and it’s up to us to go there and perform. It’ll be a very tough game but we’ll see how it unfolds on Saturday”
