After FA Trophy success on Tuesday, it’s back to league action on Saturday (3pm kick-off) as the Dabbers travel to Greater Manchester to face Hyde United in a clash of two teams at the wrong end of the table. Let’s look ahead at what this game could bring.

On a Hyde-ing to nothing

Hyde are struggling in the PitchingIn Northern Premier this season, sitting in the relegation zone, one place lower than the Dabbers on the same number of points but with a worse goal difference and having played a game more. They have won 2 of their last 4 league games over Scarborough and Ashton, but lost the other two to Buxton and Warrington.

All but one of their 6 league wins this season have been at home. That one away win? At the Optimum Pay Stadium at the start of September. So as well as the knowledge that they have beaten the Dabbers already this campaign, they are back at their theoretically stronger home, so despite the league position it will be a stern test for Dave Cooke’s side.

Last Time Out

That 2-0 win for Hyde saw both goals scored in the first half, courtesy of Tom Pratt and Jonah Mitchell. Looking at the squads that day, 4 players out of the Dabbers 16 aren’t at the club anymore, and that’s without the number of signings and players back from injury since (for example, Joe Mwasile started as the main striker), so it could be a very different prospect that Hyde will face this weekend. Highlights from that game are available below:

Players to Watch

It’s a toss up between that man Pratt, who recently scored a hat trick in their win over Scarborough, or the similarly goal hungry Liam Tongue who scored both in Hyde’s 2-1 over Ashton in their last league game, both are in hot form and will need to be tightly marshalled.
