After an unexpected week off, the Dabbers are now back in action on Saturday (3pm kick-off) away at FC United of Manchester. Let’s look ahead at what’s sure to be a competitive encounter.
FC- Faltering Consistency
A team that was well fancied before the start of the season. But a team that has struggled to build momentum and currently sits in mid-table. These are both sentences that could be applied to both teams in this match. For FC, it’s been a tale of strong at home but fallible away from home. This was never more evident than a remarkable week at the end of September where Neil Reynolds’ side were beaten 5-2 away at Stalybridge but responded immediately by thrashing Scarborough 6-0 at Broadhurst Park in their next game.
They are 10th in the PitchingIn Northern Premier, with three more points than the Dabbers on the same number of games.
Last Time Out
We met last at the very start of last season, drawing 1-1 at Broadhurst Park in September 2020 in a season that was sadly done and dusted by December. But this was a great game, a heavily deflected opener for FC was cancelled out by a typically assured Sean Cooke finish. Extended highlights from that game can be viewed below:
Players to Watch
Cedric Main and Bradley Holmes are a dangerous pairing up front, if one doesn’t score than the other usually does this season, and both notched in that thrashing of Scarborough recently.
