The Dabbers start off in the FA Trophy on Saturday (3pm kick-off) with a long trip to Lincolnshire to face Boston Town.

Boston Town, nicknamed the Poachers, are at the modern Step 4 for the first time ever this season having won the United Counties League Premier Division North in 2025/26, and it was a double success with them winning the Champions Cup too. Saturday will be their first FA Trophy tie in 41 years; they reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase in 1994 and the First Round of the FA Cup in 1976.
They are in the NPL East and have had a mixed bag of results. They started brilliantly, winning their first 3 games in all competitions, but since then have lost their last 3, 2-0 to Wellingborough Town, 1-0 to Sherwood County in the FA Cup, and 2-1 to Carlton Town in midweek. All of that has left them in 11th in the very early league table. For some kind of reference, Sutton Coldfield Town, who beat the Dabbers in pre-season, are 3 points and a few places better off in the same division.
This will be the first ever meeting between the sides, but it won’t be the Dabbers’ first trip to Boston. In the 2008/09 and 09/10 seasons, neighbours and local rivals Boston United were in the NPL Premier at the same time as Nantwich; the Dabbers played them 4 times, winning 2 and losing 2 (stats courtesy of DABBERSarchive). Boston Town were set up in 1964 by former club officials of Boston United who were concerned about the future of United at the time.

Matt Cotton has got 4 goals to his name already, and scored in midweek. Harry Limb has 3 goals; 2 of those have come from the penalty spot. Fraser Bayliss is their other scorer so far.

The trip by road is about 3 hours across the width of England. The quickest route looks to use the A50 up to Nottingham and then the A52 on to Boston.
