Following Saturday’s opening day victory against Stalybridge Celtic, The Dabbers make their first away trip of the season as they travel to Atherton Collieries.

LAST TIME OUT

The Dabbers kicked off the season with an excellent 3-2 victory over Stalybridge Celtic.

Former Witton Albion forward Scott Bakkor gave Celtic the lead from the spot in the 11th minute, but that was soon cancelled out by summer signing Thommy Montefiori after he bundled home from close range. On the brink of half time Sean Cooke grabbed home his 100th Nantwich Town goal after he hammered home a penalty. In the second half The Dabbers doubled their lead thanks to Shaun Miller’s first competitive goal for the club. Ten minutes before the end, Bakkor added his second to half the deficit, but thankfully Nantwich hung on for an opening day victory!

OUR OPPOSITION

Atherton began their season with a 1-0 win away at Hyde thanks to a late Luca Defreitas Hansen header.

Colls won the North West Counties Premier Division in 2015/16 which saw them get promoted into the North West Counties Division One West. Two years later they won that league and moved up to the NPL Premier Division

Last season they only managed to play eight league games, in these games they managed to pick up 13 points thanks to 4 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses.

LAST TIME WE MET

The last time the two sides met was on the 31st August 2019 and it was Atherton who ran out 3-1 winners at the Skuna Stadium. Vincent Bailey game the hosts the lead in the 21st minute thanks to a deflected strike from outside the box. Six minutes later Bailey added his, and his teams second goal thanks to an exquisite curled effort from the left side of the box. James Lawrie halved the deficit on the brink of half time with a low strike from the edge of the box. In the 90th minute Oliver Roberts put the game game beyond doubt after he poked home from close range.

The Dabbers will be certainly looking for revenge this time out after a thumping loss in the last meeting.
