The Dabbers can sadly confirm that Steven Hewitt will miss the rest of this season with a knee injury that requires surgery.
Stevie first picked up the injury in the FA Trophy win over York in December and hasn’t played since, seeking a second opinion before the nature of the injury was finally confirmed.
Hewitt has made 26 appearances this season, scoring once and reaching double figures in assists.
Manager Paul Carden said:
“It’s something that we’ve feared. He had an initial scan where the injury wasn’t quite determined so he went for a second scan and a second opinion and it’s been determined that he will require surgery on his knee. Absolutely gutted, obviously he’s been missing since after we played York so he’s been out for a number of weeks already and we’ve missed what he brings.
I’m gutted for him, we will be supporting him anyway but I’m sure he’ll be itching to get back and get things moving so he can start rehabbing so he can be stronger on his return.”
Everyone at Nantwich Town wishes Stevie the very best in his recovery.
