Nantwich Town Manager Dave Cooke has strengthened his management team by appointing Ritchie Sutton as his assistant ahead of the new season. Ritchie re-joins the club in a player/assistant manager role, following many successful years, that saw him playing in the Football League for the likes of Port Vale, Mansfield, Tranmere and Morecambe.
Dave Cooke says, “We faced some difficult challenges last season and whilst the numerous injuries that we incurred played a big part in this, it was also clear that we needed some additional and new ideas, and a fresh voice in the dressing room and on the training pitch and Andy Porter came in and did a remarkable job in helping us to turn things around and to finish the season so strongly and myself, the players, the board of directors and all of the supporters are sincerely grateful to him for the contribution that he made.
When Andy indicated that he was unable to commit fully to another season, it was clear that we needed someone of character and experience to fill this role and Ritchie fits the bill perfectly, as he has the experience, the qualifications and history and passion for the club and is a natural leader, that people respond to and I am looking forward to working closely with him during the season and to hopefully help him fulfil his own managerial ambitions in the future”.
