Nantwich Town are pleased to announce the signing of defender Ben Hockenhull on dual registration terms from Curzon Ashton.
Hockenhull was born in Crewe and was spotted by Manchester United scouts at the age of six. He was in their world famous academy system until 2020, when he left to join Brentford.
He played in their B team for 2 years, before being signed to his first professional contract at Tranmere Rovers.
There were loans at Warrington Rylands, Chorley, Spennymoor Town and Southport during his time there, and he did play for Tranmere in League 2.
Last summer, he left Tranmere to continue his experience in non-league. He started this season at Stafford but only played 4 games there before being snapped up by Bury in the North West Counties. He made 24 appearances for them and scored 4 goals and was then signed by Curzon of National League North. He returned to the NPL West with Mossley, for whom he played 5 times on dual reg.
We’re very grateful to Curzon for their cooperation in allowing us to dual register Ben, who will go straight into the matchday squad for today’s game against Wythenshawe Town.
Manager Jon Moran said:
“Ben is a player I have had a close eye on over this season and I am delighted to welcome him to Nantwich Town.
Ben’s footballing pedigree speaks for itself, but he is also a brilliant lad who has settled into the group really well this week.
To be able to bring in a player of this quality at this point of the season is terrific and I thank Curzon Ashton for allowing us to support in Ben’s development.”
