Former Dabbers forward John Scarlett was a special guest at the Nantwich Town home match versus Whitby Town on Saturday 5th March 2022 at the Optimum Pay Stadium in the Pitching In Northern Premier League – Premier Division.
During half-time John received a framed record of his goalscoring feats for Nantwich from Ian Garnett of the Nantwich Town Independent Supporters Association (NTISA), along with Jon Gold (Chairman, Nantwich Town) and Clive Jackson (Director of Football, Nantwich Town).
John is Nantwich Town’s most prolific post-war marksman, scoring 161 goals across 13 seasons. He was three times the club’s leading scorer – 1993/94, 1996/97 & 1998/99. He made his first team debut at Kidsgrove Athletic Away in the NWCL Floodlit Trophy on 6th January 1993. He fittingly made his final appearance in a green shirt as a late substitute in the FA Vase Final victory over Hillingdon at St Andrew’s (Birmingham City Football Club) on 6th May 2006.
A representative from NTISA said: “John is such a legend at Nantwich, I don’t think he realises how much he is respected by fans at the club.”
NTISA are a group of supporters who are passionate about the club. As well as attending games home and away, they organise fund raising events such as race nights and quiz nights to raise much needed additional revenue for the club.
The NTISA also run the match day half time 50/50 draw leaving one lucky winner each match with half the takings and the other half going in the NTISA funds. Tickets on sale at the ‘Half Time Draw’ hut on match days.
Since the NTISA formed in 2012 their fund-raising efforts have resulted in a tannoy system for the for stand, Amenity area by the Dabber Diner, a brand new ride on lawn mower for the ground staff and a fantastic disabled area, including ramp and shelter for disabled supporters at The Weaver Stadium.
The NTISA work closely with the Board and Management Team at Nantwich Town in developing the club further, both on and off the field. Their support and contribution is invaluable.
