Nantwich Town were very pleased to welcome Connor Naismith MP to the club on Friday afternoon.
Mr. Naismith, elected as Crewe and Nantwich MP in 2024, met with members of the Dabbers board and volunteers to discuss our ongoing Dabbers in the Community initiative that is fundraising to replace the old 3G pitch.
The initiative has got the backing of the Football Foundation and has seen multiple brilliant fundraising challenges from volunteers and players at the club, but we now need a big push from the community, parents, supporters, sponsors/partners and local authorities to get us toward our target.
This formed the basis of the conversation as the club and Mr. Naismith discussed how best to move forward to achieve the club’s fundraising goals.
Following that, he was shown around the club’s facilities, from the state-of-the-art main Swansway Stadium pitch and the old 3G pitch that we hope to bring up to a similar standard.
After the visit, Connor Naismith MP said:
“It was fantastic to meet Vice-Chairman John Dunning and the rest of the Board of Nantwich Town FC to discuss their redevelopment of the 3G pitch and fencing onsite.
“The club has a clear community focus, hosting games from the Northern Premier League to walking football. Their work with schools through schemes like the BTEC Academy for Brine Leas Academy and volunteer coaching opportunities are demonstrative of the positive impact football can have on the local area, particularly for the younger generation.
“I will continue to support them in exploring funding options to further expand their offering to our area.”
