Nantwich Town are very pleased to announce the signing of defender Cole Lonsdale on a permanent deal.
The left-back was most recently at Ashton United, and after a successful period there which included over 65 appearances and 12 last season, he played a further 24 games last campaign on loan at Stalybridge Celtic, scoring 4 goals.
Starting his career in the youth system at Bolton Wanderers, the 24-year-old has also played for Clitheroe and FC United of Manchester and is a danger from dead ball situations.
Welcome to the Dabbers, Cole!
Manager Paul Carden said:
“Cole’s a left back but has played left side centre back, he’s played wing back, he’s played midfield so he’s versatile. I see no reason why he and Perry can’t play together in whatever form that looks but then Cole is a completely different type to Pez, he’s more about getting on the ball and getting you playing whereas Pez is obviously more about that energy and pace to get up the pitch and make thing happen.
“Cole’s your more of a ‘footballing’ type full back. He’s got a great left foot, he scores free kicks and has a wonderful delivery so that side with having Cole and Pez is looking really strong for us and it’s what we needed as there were times last season when Pez was injured, Sean Lawton was injured and we had to play Troy and Joel Connolly at left back so you’ve always got to have players as not just cover but competition and I feel we’re getting to the point now with the squad where every position’s going to have competition with it, and strong competition at that.”
