The busy schedule continues for the Dabbers as we host Clitheroe on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off).
Clith or Clithout You
There’s been no shortage of action in Clitheroe’s recent games. They recently went from a run of 4 wins on the bounce in all competitions to 3 bruising defeats in a row; 4-0 to Avro, 5-2 to Vauxhall and 3-1 to Stalybridge. They bounced back, however, at the weekend with a 3-1 win away at Darlaston.
They’ve made good progress in the FA Trophy, reaching the First Round after wins over Avro, Congleton and Ashton United of the NPL Premier. They play another Premier side, Stockton Town, at home on Saturday.
All of this leaves them 13th in the NPL West, on the same points as the Dabbers but having an inferior goal difference and having played 2 games more. Their away record is pretty positive though, 3 wins and a draw from 6 in the league so far.
Last Time We Met
The Dabbers have not beaten Clitheroe since we came into the NPL West. In fact, Clitheroe have won both of their visits to the Swansway Stadium since 2023 by 2 goals to 1, the last of those coming in our last meeting in March. Highlights below.
Players to Watch
Incidentally, the man who scored both goals for Clitheroe that day, Lenni Cirino, has since signed for Gillingham in League 2 in a measure of his ability, and won their Goal of the Month award in August.
For the players currently at Clitheroe, Veron Parny and Leon Creech are among their top scorers this season so far. Luke Gill also got 2 in the win over Darlaston at the weekend.
And look out for player/manager Sean McConville, the Accrington legend who does still participate in games on the pitch, for example playing the last half hour at Darlaston last time out.

Please be careful with parking and avoid parking on the road that leads into the housing estate as it causes bad traffic issues. The Snow Hill leisure centre car park just up the road is free to park on after 3pm so please use that if the stadium car parks are busy.
