Kai Evans signs contract to remain with Dabbers for 2024/25

Nantwich Town are delighted to announce that Kai Evans has signed a contract to remain with the Dabbers for the 2024/25 season.

Kai has frequently excelled in his first year at the Swansway Stadium, scoring 18 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions and instilling fear in defences throughout the division.

And the goals are often spectacular; 5 of the 10 nominees for our Goal of the Season were scored by Evans. Now Nantwich supporters can look forward to hopefully more of the same next season.

Manager Paul Carden said:

“In the first half of the season we had many conversations about how we would get the best out of Kai but I think we were all guilty, himself included, of not really appreciating the length of time he’d been out and hadn’t had much of a pre-season after having 6-7 months out the previous season with a really serious back injury. So to come back and to expect him to hit the ground running, especially when you see the flashes of his ability, you expect it more consistently but that aligned with fitness and a couple of other injuries probably meant his performances suffered through a lack of consistency. And also as a young player, we were inconsistent in our league performances and so you’re putting a lot of pressure on someone who’s shown flashes and good individual moments to carry the mantle.

But since Christmas, he’s shown everything that we knew he was. He’s been consistent with his performances and consistently scoring goals, he’s a threat in every game and he’s only going to get better. He understands the importance of his fitness and how he needs to look after himself and that, combined with his undoubted talent, should see him have a strong career in the game and hopefully we can be a good platform for him to establish that.”
