Nantwich Town are delighted to announce the signing of Nathan Okome on a permanent deal following his release by Chorley.
Nathan impressed many on an initial loan at the end of last season, making 9 appearances and becoming a focal point in defence; he finished 3rd in the fan-voted Young Player of the Season award after just those handful of games.
He will now team up again at the back with Troy Bourne and Jon Moran, who are among 9 other players confirmed to be staying with the Dabbers for 23/24.
On signing up permanently, Nathan said:
“It feels good. I’ve known about the club since I was 15 so I’m delighted I’ve finally got a place where I feel comfortable and I know that can progress and develop me. I’m hoping to kick on and get promotion”
Nantwich manager Paul Carden said:
“Nathan was somebody I really wanted to keep after his loan spell last season. He came in like he’d been playing for the club all season, he hit the ground running and put in some immense performances for someone still relatively young. I believe he’s an asset to the club and that given the right platform and support and his performances in the league above, he can continue to provide for us. I see no reason why he can’t be looking up the divisions of potentially where he can get to if he’s consistent with his performances.”
And Chairman Jon Gold commented:
“We’re delighted to have Nathan signed, he’s got the right attitude and an abundance of quality. Everyone saw when he came in last year what a difference he made, and I think this is just a step in his career as I think he can play at a higher level and hopefully we can play a part in doing that, and he can play a part in helping us compete very strongly near the top of this division. It’s very exciting times and I think it’s a great signing for the club.”
