Match Preview: Nantwich Town v Hyde United

The Dabbers’ new era under manager Paul Carden begins this Saturday (3pm kick-off) with a home game against second place Hyde United.

Hyde and seek

Hyde have 2 wins, 2 draws and a defeat from their last 5 matches. It’s arguable that they have had a friendly run of opponents in that group, beating Liversedge and Marske and drawing with Belper; their last match against a team in their part of the league was last time out, a 1-1 draw with Matlock.

It’s worth pointing out that they have received red cards in their last 2 matches, Bradley Roscoe against Liversedge and Callum Spooner against Matlock, so at least one of those may not be available on Saturday.

Their away form, though, is the second best of anyone in the league (28 points from 16 games), with the second most goals (29), and the third most goals overall (54) combined with the third fewest conceded (31). They’re deserving of their place in the table.

Last Time Out

By coincidence, Hyde were also the opponents for Ritchie Sutton and Gary Taylor-Fletcher’s first game as permanent manager/head coach in September. And it was now-Dabber Adam Dawson that was the difference with an 83rd minute winner for a 1-0 win. Highlights are below.

Players to Watch

Jack Redshaw is Hyde’s standout scorer, with 14 goals in all competitions he’s scored nearly twice as many as any other Hyde player, including their most recent goal in that draw with Matlock.

Liam Tongue and Will Russ both have 2 goals in their last 3 games, and they have also signed Northern Ireland youth international defender Dane McCullough on loan from Burnley to strengthen at the back; he made his debut in the Matlock game.
