It’s time to get excited again Dabbers fans, as today the Pitching In Northern Premier League fixtures are released. Everyone will be keeping their fingers crossed that it is third time lucky in getting these 22 teams through a complete season, so with all the Covid caveats in mind, let’s take a look at some of the stand-out games and when they’re happening.

The Kick-Off

Matchday 1 sees the Dabbers at home to Stalybridge Celtic on 14 August, with the first away game at Atherton Collieries three days later.

Another away trip to Whitby follows on the 21st, with back-to-back home fixtures against Matlock and Bamber Bridge after that.

Local Derbies

Eyes will immediately be on the local fixtures against Warrington and Witton, and it’s Witton who Dave Cooke and his team will face first, away at Wincham Park, on 30th August for some proper Monday Night Football. It’s a repeat of the last away game before last season was curtailed, a magnificent 5-2 win.

Warrington visit the Optimum Pay Stadium on 12th October, with the reverse game on the 8th February.

And Witton will come to Nantwich on New Years’ Day 2022 on what is sure to be a memorable start to the year.

Festive Fixtures

Other than the Witton match, the Dabbers will play Whitby at home on the 18th December and Stafford away on Monday the 27th December on what is always a crucial stage of the season.

The Run-In

If the trend of the last two cancelled seasons continues, then the Dabbers will be hoping to be in contention for something special heading into the last few matches.

Home games against Scarborough and Atherton are followed by a trip to Matlock on 16 April.

Nantwich’s final home match follows two days later against Stafford under the lights, with hopefully a similar result to the recent friendly.

The league season concludes with a trip to Bamber Bridge on 23 April, which could end up being a date that lives long in the memory of Dabbers fans for years to come (and not just because it’s St. George’s Day).

You can see the whole list below. If the last two years have taught us anything though, it’s that these fixtures are subject to change, but it’s soon time to strap in as the Dabbers rollercoaster gets ready to speed away once again.
