Biography
The versatile defender joined the club in September 2016 after leaving Hanley Town. He can play at either right-back or at centre-half, being equally comfortable at both positions.
He trained with the first team squad for a number of weeks before making his debut in the 1-1 draw away at Barwell. He put in an impressive first 45 minutes in his first appearance for the club, but an injury forced him off shortly after half-time. Stair has since gone on to make a number of appearances, playing at multiple positions in defence. He made 28 appearances in total during the 16/17 season, scoring two goals.
Joel made a total of 48 appearances during the 2017/18 campaign in defence scoring seven goals. He was voted the Player of Year at the club’s awards night for his excellent season.
In 2018/19, Joel’s goal tally was reduced to three, but once again put in a great shift in defence, but an injury sustained at the tail-end of the regular season saw him miss the play-off semi-final with Warrington.
